Ezell & Ezell, PLLC is a father-daughter legal practice with over 50 years of combined experience and lead by Michael R. Ezell and Julie Ezell-Perez.
Michael R. Ezell
Michael R. Ezell is an attorney with over 40 years of experience. He is board certified by the Texas State Board of Legal Specialization in Residential and Commercial Real Estate Law.
Michael R. Ezell has practiced law in Harlingen, Texas since 1974. He graduated from Southwest Texas State University, San Marcos, Texas (B.S. Chemistry 1967); St. Mary’s University, San Antonio, Texas (M.A. Economics, 1970); and St. Mary’s University, San Antonio, Texas (J.D., 1974).
In addition to his extensive real estate practice, he has practiced for many years in the areas of real estate law, business law, asset protection planning, banking law, contract law, wills, trusts, estate planning, estate and trust administration, family law, commercial collections and litigation.
He often serves as an expert witness with regard to real estate and other related lawsuits.
He has been married for nearly 45 years to Shay and they have 3 children, one of whom is Julie Ezell-Perez, the other member of Ezell & Ezell. He and Shay have 4 grandchildren.
He is active in his community and church, serving on the boards of various civic and community organizations over the years. He served as the Senior Warden of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, the President of the Harlingen Rotary Club and Co-Founder and President of the Arroyo Youth Soccer Club, Inc.
He is a member of the Cameron and Hidalgo County Bar Associations, State Bar of Texas, American Bar Association and he is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation Bar of Texas.
Julie Ezell-Perez is an attorney with a decade of legal experience who was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley. She practices in the areas of wills, trusts, estate planning, estate and trust and administration, elder law, asset protection planning, business law, real estate law, contract law, family law and litigation.
She graduated from Harlingen High School South (1995), from Trinity University (B.A. 2000) and St. Mary’s University School of Law (J.D. 2005).
She is married to Robert Luis Perez who is a litigator for an insurance defense law firm in Brownsville, Texas. They have two sons.
She has been active in her community since she was in high school. Since returning home from law school, she has served on various civic and community boards in her community including:
- City of Harlingen Senior Citizens Advisory Board – 2015-2020 term
- Valley International Airport Board – 2013 to 2019 term
- Harlingen Rotary Club Board- 5 terms between – 2009 and 2016
- Leadership Harlingen Class Chairperson – 2008-2009
- Board Member of the Junior League of Harlingen – 3 terms between 2006-2010-Current Sustaining Member
She is a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas, Cameron and Hidalgo County Bar Associations, State Bar of Texas, American Bar Association.
Sarah Sanchez has worked in our office for nearly 25 years in many capacities. She has assisted the attorneys in thousands of real estate transactions and in many other types of transactions including in estate planning, probate and family law matters. She is extremely professional, smart and detail oriented. We and our clients have come to rely on her professionalism and service and are very lucky she is a part of our team.
Enedina De La Torre
Enedina (“Nina”) De La Torre has worked in our office for over 30 years in a general secretarial capacity. She is the first person you will encounter at Ezell & Ezell, PLLC. She is friendly, knowledgeable, smart and she keeps things in our office on track. She assists the attorneys and our clients in many different ways every day. She is a true asset to Ezell & Ezell, PLLC and to our clients.
